"So... what do you do?" You can feel the sizing up when someone asks it. For years I answered with my title. These days I'm more interested in the question behind the question: who are you when the title comes off? I had to answer that one for myself first.
When the title isn't the whole answer
I took my first management job at 19, in a furniture store, and spent decades in sales and leadership, much of it in luxury jewelry. I climbed. I also found out a title can ask you to trade pieces of yourself that aren't for sale. So I walked away from one, went back to selling, and found out people would follow me without it. That's where I learned the difference between a manager and a leader.

When you're called to something bigger
In 2019 I stepped onto the TEDxFlowerMound stage. I'd planned to talk about leadership and sales. In prayer, the Lord had something else in mind, and I ran from it (like Jonah) before I finally said yes. That talk is part of my story. It isn't the whole of it.

When hard work isn't paying you back
I once put real money into a business and had almost nothing to show for it. Effort wasn't the problem. Proximity was. I didn't have the right people, perspective, and learning around me. I also believed a W-2 meant safety, until COVID challenged that. When going to your 'job' costs you more than it's paying you, it's time. In 2025, I retired my W-2.

What we can build
Today I invest in real estate and raise capital, building alongside my husband, Vince, who is so incredibly supportive in everything. I still coach, I host Make It Count, and I pour into high performers, sales pros, and leaders who already work hard and want that work to pay them back.

There's no such thing as NEUTRAL. Do I nail it daily? Of course not. That would mean I could walk on water, too.

Serve when you're called.
Not serving, to me, is selfish.
